Direct Detection and Quantification of Bacterial Pathogens from Broiler Cecal Samples in the Slaughter Line by Real-Time PCR

Chicken meat is an important source of foodborne pathogens, including Salmonella, Campylobacter, and Clostridium perfringens. These bacteria can occur in the intestinal microbiota broilers contaminate chicken carcasses industrial processing. This study aimed to develop evaluate a procedure based on real-time PCRs for direct detection quantification these three broilers’ ceca collected poultry slaughter houses demonstrate occurrence pathogens Brazilian production flocks. Cecal contents were from 45 different broiler flocks slaughterhouses state Paraná, Brazil, totaling samples (in pools 10 ceca/chickens per flock). Then, tested perfringens by PCRs.
